Indie Authors

Over 20 indie authors, including those from small presses and self-published works, will be at the Indie Author Alley found on the first level of Richland Library Main. Explore a variety of genres and support local talent by meeting authors and picking up signed copies of their books.

    • Danny Baldwin writes fast-paced, cinematic sci-fi inspired by the stories he longed to read. His ongoing series, VIGILANCE, blends 1940s super-science with modern sensibilities, delivering pulp action without the tropes. He lives in South Carolina with his wife and dogs.

    • Christofer Cook, an award-winning playwright and author, wrote the stage play The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and The Vampire Diaries: Nosferatu Trilogy. A member of the Dramatists Guild and Horror Writers Association, he lives in Columbia, SC, with his wife and daughter.

    • Chris Crowley worked for a season in the caution towers at Daytona looking for trouble. He served in the nuclear navy for six years and then worked at a civilian nuclear plant for thirty-nine more. He enjoys spending time with his grandkids. His first book is Weird Coincidences: Ride behind the wheel from the streets of South Carolina to Daytona.

    • Rosheka Davis is a three-time Amazon International best-selling Co-Author. Mother, Speaker, Impact Coach, Radio and TV personality, CEO, and Philanthropist.

    • E.H. Demeter was born in Oregon City, Oregon, and now makes her home in South Carolina, where she can be found to hate the heat and love the rain.

    • Krys Fenner, also known as Brigit Rosé—like the wine, not the flower, has been infinitely passionate about writing and creating fantastical worlds since high school. Not long after, she started dabbling in the darker walks of life—some of which she has experienced personally.

    • T.M. Greene was born in Washington, D.C. He enjoys writing, drawing sketches, walking, collecting things, watching film and television, reading books, and playing video games. He also enjoys spending time with friends, going to events in his hometown, and traveling, buying, and listening to vinyl records. The Guitarist Association was originally a one act play that Greene turned into a novel.

    • Annait LJ is a 25-year-old military soldier who believes American Sign Language should be a standard practice. She centers her debut novel around an alternate earth where ASL is the primary form of communication.

    • Jerlean S Noble is the visionary and CEO of the Columbia Writers Alliance. She is a 30 year retiree of the Department of Psychloogy at the University of South Carolina. She is a published author with 5 published books.

    • ​Janet Kozachek has led a long and eclectic career as a writer and visual artist,  pursuing work and advanced study in Europe, China, and New York.  She was the  first American to matriculate in the Beijing Central Art Academy (CAFA), where she studied  painting, poetry, and calligraphy.  At CAFA, she found that poetry was an integral part of painting, enhancing both meaning and joy. The structure of these classical literary forms has had a lasting impact on her art and writing. 

    • Robert J. Lewis is a writer and a social media personality. When I started my writing journey, my dream was to one day be published. I never thought it would take me to the path that I am traveling now.

    • Casey Lown (she/them) is the author of angsty contemporary and paranormal books that wear their hearts on their sleeves. She lives in rural South Carolina with her spouse and kids.

    • Michelle O’Neil is a former news reporter, freelance writer, and blogger. Her first novel, Dog Park, launched in December 2024. She is an avid listener, making her a natural storyteller.  She writes about regular people navigating complicated lives with all the grit and humor that are part of the deal.

    • Wayne Powers graduated from U.S.C. with a degree in Creative Writing. He is the author of numerous books: Like Lazarus I came Forth: Poems, The Miracle of Kindness: Living a Life of Ridiculous Kindness Book and Workbook Collection, Billy’s Adventures: The Magical Powers of Kindness: A Children’s Book, Nature Calls Families That Color Together: An Interactive Coloring Book for Children and Parents, Christ Is Born Nativity Scenes and More: Families That Color Together An Interactive Coloring Book for Children and Parents.

    • Vickey (Ella Shawn) Brown is a dynamic storyteller, published author, and podcast host with a passion for amplifying underrepresented voices.  As the Founder/Publisher of Southern Momentum Publishing House, LLC she champions marginalized Southern women writers, helping them bring their stories to life.  A lover of all things creative, she’s an avid reader, crocheter, and crafter. Known for her engaging personality and rich insights, she’s perfect for conversations on writing, publishing, and empowering diverse voices.

    • Amelia Sides writes Fantasy, Science Fiction, Romance and is a lover of plants, dogs, and anime. Her books are filled with complex heroes, political intrigue, and finding home among the chaos that is life.

    • Arthur Turfa is a Lexington-based poet/ writer of short stories and novels

    • Christopher Lucius Wynn is a local poet, musician, and podcaster. He was born and raised in Charleston, SC. He attends and performs at local open mic events in the Charleston community and uses the platforms to showcase his great talents around the area. He is also a member of the “Plantation Singers” that sings gullah spirituals of the lowcountry. He graduated from “North Charleston High School” (2007), graduated from “Trident Technical College” (2011) with an Associate in Arts degree, and graduated at the “College of Charleston” (2015) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts. Chris also has a podcast with his older brother Derrick Wynn called “The Brothers in Company Podcast” that discusses news, current events and anything going on in everyday life. Chris has released his debut poetry book called “C.O.L.O.R.S.” An acronym stands for (Can Overcome Levels of Real Stages) and it’s available on Amazon. 

    • Tom Elmore grew up in Columbia, S.C. where he heard numerous tales and legends about life in the city during the Civil War. Elmore holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of South Carolina. He is the author of numerous articles in regional and national publications and has lectured all across the Mid-Atlantic States. In addition, Elmore has been a book reviewer for two national magazines.

    • Bernice Johnson, an award-winning, International & Bestselling Author was born and raised in a small, country town in Bowman, South Carolina but recently gave up country life to become a resident of the Capital of South Carolina in 2019.

    • Keshia Jackson

    • Marjorie Kneece is from Columbia, South Carolina and grew up nearby at Lake Murray. Since childhood, Marjorie has always enjoyed graphic arts and design, photography, writing, traveling, and working with computers. She has spent the majority of her life at beautiful Lake Murray and also lived in Charleston, South Carolina for five years.

    • Quantella Perry began her journey in writing through poetry and music at the tender age of eleven. Writing became her solace during life's overwhelming challenges. Through writing, she found the ability to transform her pain into purpose, discovering her gift for storytelling and expressing her truth on paper.

    • Beth Ruffin is an author, speaker, and founder of The Everyday Inclusionist, where she helps organizations and individuals foster genuine inclusion. She has authored three transformative books: "Get Up," a faith-based journey of healing, "You Belong Here," a guide to self-inclusion for helping professionals, and "The Habit of YOU Journal," a 21-day guided practice for self-reflection.  

    • Frank Baker is a nationally recognized media literacy educator who has led hundreds of professional development workshops for educators across the United States. He runs the popular Media Literacy Clearinghouse and regularly contributes to MiddleWeb with media literacy insights.

    • Jonathan Mashack, in his inaugural year as a high school teacher, was deeply affected by the tragic loss of several students. He responded by offering daily wisdom, which made such a positive impact that his students requested the tips be made into a book, sparking the creation of The Teen Survival Guide.

    • Marla Taviano (she/her/) is into: books, love, justice, globes, anti-racism, blue, gray, rainbows, poems (and a hundred other things). Reads and writes for a living (and a life). Wears her heart on her t-shirts. On a mission/quest/journey to live wholefarted (not a typo). (Big fan of parentheses—and em dashes.)

    • Ciara Bates is a children's book author and mother of two small children. As a parent, she is passionate about writing books to encourage the imagination and growth of budding bookworms and little members of humanity. In addition to children’s picture books, she has published work on the topics of mental health, science, and faith.

    • Nicole Caudle studied creative writing while working on her degree at Georgia Southern University. She received a BA in English and Classics with a minor in Secondary Education from the University of South Carolina. In 2020 she received her certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

    • Rian N. Jenkins is a former teacher (twenty years) and currently spoken word artist, author, mentor among other dope, magnificent titles that uplift and empower the community. She has been writing for at least 30 years and performing for over 20 years. As of March 2025, she has published three poetry anthologies, a children’s book and middle grades novel. 

    • Tiffiny Mariano is the author of children’s book “Green Beans & Tangerines.” Everyone knows that picky eaters can be perplexing, and this is a tale of just that. Will Nikki take the plunge to try something new, or will her birthday just be the usual? Being picky is quite a relatable topic. In fact, I’ve found that we either are one, have one or know one. It’s not just about food, it’s also about trying new things, expanding our horizons, and discovering the best kept secrets. 

    • Alex Parker grew up in Winter Park, Florida. As a child, she loved many of the same activities Molly Periwinkle enjoys: spending time with her family, playing outdoors, building sandcastles, and reading.

    • T. L. Sumter is a children's book author, U. S. Army Veteran, and father of two. As a parent, he strives to find effective ways to communicate meaningful life lessons to his children. His interaction with his children is the inspiration for the Jay Wise Book Series.

    • Dawnice Nyree Williams and her family love to travel, do arts and crafts, and try new restaurants together.

    • Diann Price Williams, born in Clinton, South Carolina, graduated Benedict College with a degree in Social Work and has worked as a licensed social worker, a certified adoption specialist, a technical writer in technology, and a project manager for technology infrastructure projects. In retirement, Diann rekindled her dream of publishing her children’s books. After her brother's untimely passing, Diann organized his bipolar thoughts found on his laptop into a mystery suspense novel titled “A Life That Mattered” her first published book, and she was over 60. Diann has since published over 20 children’s books. This independent author is married, the mother of three adult children, and the grandmother of three.  Diann’s motto in life is “To succeed, you must fail!” When you see her, ask her why!
